 Privacy Policy – SnapNote Secure Notepad

App Name: SnapNote – Secure Notepad  |  Package: com.mahedi.snapnote.secure  |  Platform: Android  |  Last Updated: March 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SnapNote – Secure Notepad ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency.

By downloading or using SnapNote, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

SnapNote collects only the minimum information necessary to provide its features:

Type of Data Purpose Required?
Your note content (text) Stored on your device; synced to your private cloud if enabled Yes – core feature
Anonymous user ID A random Firebase ID used to store your notes in the cloud. No name or email collected. Yes – for cloud sync
Advertising ID (GAID) Used by Google AdMob to show relevant ads Optional – ads only
Crash & diagnostics data Anonymized error reports to improve app stability Yes – app quality

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any other sensitive personal data.

2. Google AdMob & Advertising

SnapNote displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob to support free access to the app. AdMob may collect and use your device's Advertising ID (GAID) to serve personalized ads based on your interests.

  • AdMob may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads.
  • Personalized ads can be turned off on your Android device under: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
  • Even with personalized ads disabled, you may still see non-personalized ads.
  • SnapNote does not share any of your note content with AdMob or any advertiser.
  • For more details: Google's Privacy Policy | AdMob Partner Policy
⚠️ Ad Disclosure: SnapNote uses Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements. These ads help us keep the app free for everyone. You can opt out of ad personalization at any time via your device settings.

3. Firebase Authentication & Cloud Sync (Firestore)

SnapNote uses Google Firebase services for anonymous authentication and optional cloud note synchronization:

  • Firebase Anonymous Authentication: When you first open the app, a random anonymous user ID is generated automatically — no account creation, no email, no password required. This ID is used only to associate your notes with your private Firestore storage.
  • Cloud Firestore: If cloud sync is enabled, your notes are stored in a private Firestore database under your anonymous user ID at the path users/{uid}/notes. Only you can access your notes — no one else, including us.
  • You can disable cloud sync at any time via Settings → Cloud Sync → Off. When disabled, no data is sent to or retrieved from Firebase.
  • Firebase data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest by Google's infrastructure.
  • For more details: Firebase Privacy Policy

4. Local Security – PIN Lock & Biometric Authentication

SnapNote is designed with privacy and security as a core feature:

  • PIN Lock: The app is protected by a 6-digit PIN of your choice. This PIN is stored securely on your device using encrypted local storage and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
  • Biometric Authentication: If your device supports it, you may use fingerprint or face recognition to unlock the app. Biometric data is processed entirely on your device by Android's secure biometric API and is never accessed or stored by SnapNote.
  • Locked Notes: Individual notes can be marked as "Locked," requiring your PIN or biometric to view. The content of locked notes is never displayed, transmitted, or accessible without authentication.
  • SnapNote does not have a backdoor to access your PIN-locked notes. If you forget your PIN, note content cannot be recovered.
Your Security Guarantee: Your PIN is never stored in plain text. Locked note content is never sent to any server in readable form. All local security features operate entirely on your device.

5. Data Retention & Privacy of Notes

  • Local storage: Notes stored locally on your device remain until you delete them within the app or uninstall the app.
  • Cloud storage: Notes synced to Firebase are retained as long as your anonymous account is active. Anonymous Firebase accounts with no activity for 180 days may be automatically deleted along with all associated notes.
  • Your notes are private: We do not read, analyze, mine, or share the content of your notes with any third party. Note content is used solely to provide the note-storage feature to you.
  • No profiling: We do not build user profiles or analyze note content for advertising or any other purpose.
  • To request permanent deletion of your cloud data, contact us at the email below and we will delete your Firebase data within 30 days.

6. How We Use Your Information

  • To sync and display your notes across app sessions.
  • To display advertisements through Google AdMob (keeping the app free).
  • To diagnose and fix crashes using anonymized Firebase diagnostic data.
  • To authenticate you anonymously so your notes are associated with your device.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data or note content with any third party for commercial purposes.

7. Third-Party Services

SnapNote integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing their data use:

  • Google Firebase / Firestore – firebase.google.com/support/privacy
  • Google AdMob – policies.google.com/privacy

8. Children's Privacy

SnapNote is not directed at or intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has used the app and data has been collected, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights & Choices

  • Disable Cloud Sync: Go to Settings → Cloud Sync → Off. All Firebase transmission stops immediately.
  • Delete Your Data: Uninstall the app to remove all local data. Email us to request deletion of Firebase cloud data.
  • Opt Out of Personalized Ads: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
  • Reset Advertising ID: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID.
  • Users in the EU/EEA may have additional rights under GDPR, including access, rectification, and erasure. Contact us to exercise these rights.

10. Security

We implement the following technical measures to protect your data:

  • All communication with Firebase servers uses TLS encryption.
  • Your PIN is stored using secure encrypted local storage on your device.
  • Firebase Firestore security rules ensure only your anonymous UID can read or write your notes.
  • No plaintext passwords or PINs are ever transmitted over the network.
